U.K. Magazine Looks to Pinterest for Inspiration
By: Jessica Peck
U.K. based magazine, Living Easy, currently relaunched their online magazine in hopes to create an easier to way follow their articles. How did they go about it? Well, the magazine decided to take a note from one the most recent social media super sites, Pinterest. Pinterest is popular for having their users “repin” interesting photos to their individual boards. With Pinterest’s interface, users are able to build a community based on similar interests by following and repinning photos under certain categories.
Instead of having their readers “repin” and directly interact with the page, the U.K. based magazine decided to mimic the the graph-like interface to implement their top stories.

Easy Living is best known for their coverage in everything lifestyle, fashion, and home, which is very similar to what peeks the interests of those using Pinterest. It’s no wonder the magazine decided to take note of what the repinning site was doing. It’s also important to note that Easy Living isn’t necessarily creating a new social media community site. The purpose of the new layout is to help make the online readers enjoy their content in a much more easier and fun way.
With more and more publications going online, how do you think the rest of them should start to interact with their readers? Do you think some should create an online community for their readers, or do you think some should follow this U.K. magazine and create a more interactive layout without implementing a community?
