Super Bowl Sunday has come and gone, and we are left to debate the winners and losers of the brand bowl. But instead of debating which commercial won your vote, why not focus on what didn’t grace the television air waves?
Enter The Avengers: Marvel’s equivalent of New Years Eve, only this time the cliche and overused celebrity studded cast is replaced with almost every awesome super hero you can shake a stick at. The newest trailer for the hero flick aired during a super bowl break, but the spot was not the full trailer that audiences could have seen.
The end of the commercial urged people to visit The Avengers facebook page for the full length trailer, a teaser for a tease, if you will. The full length spot is only available if you “like” the page, which means The Avengers info will be popping up all over your news feed with every update just for the sake of thirty more seconds of footage.

This is not the first time a facebook fan page has promised extra content just for liking a page, but it is definitely one of the more successful attempts. EA’s popular video game franchise “Need for Speed” teased its latest game on facebook, promising to release a trailer made by Michael Bay if enough people liked the page.
Checking the facebook page right after the game, The Avengers were sitting pretty at a cool 540,000 fans. Upon checking the tally this morning, that number had elevated past the 600,000 mark. It looks like holding the carrot just out of reach of the viewers has worked in this instance, garnering a whole mass of followers for the upcoming movie just for a chance to see more of what they already know.
